The Studio draws its name and inspiration from the two meanings of its namesake.
Ingenio means ingenuity, creativity, and talent for problem-solving, a vital tenet of the Studio`s collective focus and emphasis on bringing novel, inventive solutions to each project and design challenge that draw detailed inspiration from the surroundings and the client`s aspirations and way of life.
Ingenio also refers to the traditional enclaves in which sugarcane is turned into sugar. "Ingenio is where my grandparents, from British colonies in the Caribbean, built a new life in a small coastal sugar village in the Dominican Republic, created a community, formed a family, and where I grew up surrounded by the sweet breeze of the sugarcane fields" W.W.
An ingenio takes locally sourced raw materials and transforms them into something new. This formative context is where founder and principal Will Williams first experienced the power of design shaped by nature, sustainability, and practical concerns to improve your well-being.
2005
Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Studio Ingenio Founder and Principal Will Williams embarked upon an international career in Architecture, Design, and Interiors. Williams’ unique aesthetic perspective is defined by a sensitivity to the natural world and ecologically-minded design strategies shaped by organic principles and the surrounding environment.
After undertaking his formal training in Architecture in the Dominican Republic, Williams began his career with GVA (AD 100), one of the leading architecture firms in Latin America, where he designed Luxury residences and villas, making use of the highest-quality materials and pieces.
Williams then expanded and deepened his practice and expertise in New York City, working on architecture and interior projects for a wide range of residential and hospitality firms like the James Beard Award-winning firm Design Bureaux.
Launching his independent studio in Harlem in 2017, followed by a second studio in Paris’ Marais in 2019, Williams has developed a wide-ranging roster of residential and hospitality projects, including interiors for the critically-acclaimed MOB Hotels (Bordeaux & Washington, DC), among other clients.

INGENIO is an international minority-owned practice that, in melding diverse backgrounds + talent, uses collations as a vehicle to explore ideas that not only look but also feel good.
By exploring the balance between beauty and what is essential —simplicity and richness — INGENIO aim at heightening the client`s experience, sense of well-being, and, subsequently, our collective good as humans.
Our projects combine expert craft with an acute focus on detail, quality, timeless aesthetic, and elan courtesy of the studio`s home bases in Harlem and Paris` Le Marais.
Each object and material we choose is considered already understanding its impact on humans and our environment. By stripping each space and object back to its basic form, design becomes thoughtful, and simplicity carries deeper conversation in which every element has its place, where nothing is else to add or take away–all with unique contemporary character, wit, and timeless essence.
We create restorative spaces to improve your well-being, reconnect, slow down, and live your best life.
